At NOLA Wellness, we understand that healing doesn’t always happen in isolation. While individual therapy offers a deeply personal and focused space for healing, group therapy provides something uniquely powerful: shared experience, mutual support, and the reminder that you are not alone.
Led by Dr. Suzie Flores, a licensed clinical psychologist with over 25 years of experience, our group therapy programs are carefully designed to provide safe, supportive environments for people navigating some of life’s most challenging emotional landscapes.
Group Therapy: Why It Works
Group therapy connects individuals who are working through similar issues, offering the opportunity to:
- Share experiences without judgment
- Gain insight from others who understand
- Learn practical coping strategies
- Build a sense of community and belonging
- Experience the healing power of empathy and validation
Participants often find that group settings help normalize their experiences, break down feelings of shame or isolation, and accelerate emotional growth.
Specialized Groups at NOLA Wellness
Dr. Flores currently leads two specialized groups, each focused on distinct areas of emotional recovery:
1. Survivors of Narcissistic Relationships – Every Second Tuesday
This group supports individuals recovering from relationships with narcissistic partners, parents, or family members. Narcissistic abuse often involves manipulation, gaslighting, and a gradual erosion of self-worth. In this group, participants explore:
- Rebuilding self-esteem and identity
- Understanding narcissistic behavior
- Setting healthy boundaries
- Regaining trust in oneself and others
Dr. Flores creates a compassionate, trauma-informed space where survivors can share their stories, find validation, and begin to reclaim their voice.
2. Chronic Pain Support Group – Every Other Saturday
Living with chronic pain takes both a physical and emotional toll. This new group helps individuals cope with the psychological effects of persistent pain—such as anxiety, depression, frustration, and grief. Using evidence-based psychological tools, participants will explore:
- Mind-body awareness and mindfulness
- Stress reduction techniques
- Emotional regulation skills
- The impact of thoughts and emotions on pain perception
Dr. Flores integrates her clinical expertise with a warm, collaborative approach to support each member’s unique journey toward improved well-being.
